Bluemoon :
Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Iran, Afghanistan and Mongolia…
Of the 8 countries above, which Former Soviet Union and Central Asian countries are worth visiting, generally safe to travel and tourist-friendly?
The qualities I’m looking for are:
1. Safety & Hygiene (less theft, mugging and epidemic possibilities)
2. Tourist-friendly (friendly people)
3. Historical sites (amazing architecture)
4. Beautiful nature (exotic)
5. Facinating culture and cuisine
Again, the countries on my wish-list are: Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Iran, Afghanistan and Mongolia
Choose the best 3 countries in order.
I said Former Soviet Union AND Central Asian countries and I did know Iran, Afghanistan and Mongolia had never been part of Soviet Union. =p
Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan// Former Soviet Union
Iran, Afghanistan and Mongolia// Central Asian countries
That’s why I had put the three countries in the later part of the list. (Because there are not former Soviet Union!)

Haha Iran was a former Soviet Union Republic? Afghanistan? Wow, you learn something new everyday, don’t you? From your list I would pick Turkmenistan or Kazakhstan. Apart from that, I suggest you to try Georgia or Azerbaijan, countries that surely will meet those five qualities. I don’t know why you are so eager to travel to central Asia, my dad travels there a lot for business and he says it’s ok, people are friendly etc. But as a touristic destination, I wouldn’t be so enthusiastic about it. Then again, these are countries that could offer a more unique experience than the others.
Abkhazia good…
Hahaha, you must be America saying Iran, Mongolia and Afhanistan where former SSSR states… hahahaha typical stupid american (which is european, actually)!
Mongolia is not a former ussr country, but it’s very good to travel to! Besides, americans don’t need visas to go there. It’s a very unusual and interesting country
I wouldn’t go to any of those countries – they all suck
Motherland Russia! That’s where I was born.
