Sam B :
Hey people,
I’m planning a trip to central asia starting in Almaty. I have yet to get any decent information on how long it takes to get to Issy-kul from Almaty. The town I will be going to is Karakol.
Does anyone know how long it will take?
How much it will cost?
Is there any specific border crossing?
And if anyone knows about travel from Karakol to Bishkek I’d be SO grateful.
Any help would be really appreciated. Thanks!

There are regular buses and taxis which leave for Karakol from the Kazakh border. I’m not sure of the fares. From Karakol, you can also get to Bishkek by bus and taxi services. It leaves Bishkek in the morning, and the trip takes about 5-6 hour drive. Bus fare is around 200 som and taxi – 500 som.
Have a nice journey!
